I acquired this Jungle Carbine the other day and it looks like it was never issued. Any Enfield experts care to give me some guidance?

Very nice! Looks like a war time production, no cap on the end of the fore stock .
Produced August 1945 at Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley England.
Is it matching numbers? stock should be numbered too.

These rifles have a reputation of less than stellar accuracy ( wandering zero), but the one I had was a good shooter, maybe not “match grade” but plenty good to hunt with. I took quite a few deer with mine.
Another point is the metal is painted, not blued or phosphate. Also, replacement (NOS) stocks are available so it could have been changed at some point.
I’m certainly not trying to knock your gun, it looks great and should be a good shooter. Enjoy!

If you want to mount a scope check out the one made by DAI Management and sold by Brownells. No drill mount, comes with longer screws for the ejector and safety (that’s where it mounts) good solid mount that is easy to mount and quick to put it back to original if you want.
