Well, it's not quite that simple, but there's compelling evidence the government got the food pyramid, the same one they shoved down our throats in public schools for decades, very wrong. And through rather sinister methods.

The late D. Mark Hegsted was one of three Harvard scientists who took money from the sugar industry to falsify research, downplaying sugar's impact on health, while demonizing saturated fats. The research became very influential in the world of nutrition. He went on to become the top nutrition scientist at the USDA in the 1970s, and led the effort to establish the federal dietary guidelines. That's like putting Pol Pot in charge of education.

Bottom line: Do your own research on your eating habits. It's one of the best things you can do to improve your health.

What? The government lied! Not again!

When you read the words person or individual when reading government rules (like taxes) substitute corporation and non resident foreign alien, to finger (sic) out what the real meaning is.

Very sound advice. Avoid sugar all you can. Do not drink any sodas, they are crap for your insides.

Healthy eating maybe high protein, no refined carbs, as little suagr as possible, and veggies all you want.

If health is jot your thing eat whatcha want.

Good read and advice OP

Preach!

My wife used to listen to pod casts and such and yes - what you eat has a HUGE influence over your health.

Unfortunately unhealthy food is cheap and healthy food is expensive. And our culture has many food-centered traditions.

But as the saying goes, nothing worthwhile is easy.
