I’m thinking single lung shot with a .223.

Had a similar deal happen to me after shooting a nice buck. After the shot the buck took off running and eventually took a header and flipped over in a ditch. When i walked up to it his head was under its shoulder with its butt in the air. Kinda like it was folded in half. Set my gun down and went to grab its tail to flip it over and took both back hooves to the nuts. Kicked the hell out of me.
