So I saw this episode on pawn stars today. I don’t know how to value early colts. Thought I put this up and ask the oracles of ODT. What’s the true value of these item?

Let’s hold off on comments on stupidity of selling to pawn stars. It’s a show. I get it.

I like to discuss the relic here.

He has a Colt Specialist come in to appraise them. I would think they go by previous auction results to get a starting point before the condition kicks in. It wouldn't surprise me to find that the stock for that was worth more than the gun.

I'll hold off on the negative comments on Pawn Stars, and just talk about the pistol and stock. Repro stocks aren't cheap. Depending on who made them and when, they average a few hundred dollars and up. There was no discussion of the pistol, unless I missed it If an original pistol in that condition, I'd pay $1500 all day long, especially with a stock, even a repro one. Below is a pic of my original that I have approx. $1800 in. So, if the pistol he brought in was a repro, depending on who and when made, it could be worth anywhere from $200 to $1000. Average price for most repro's are in the $200-300 range. Based on the short clip, if original, I'd say in the $2K range give a take a hundred or so. Unless there's something unique about it, like being able to be traced to a particular soldier. Closer examination would be needed.

For comparison sake, mine is pictured below. It's a 1862 maritally marked pistol that functions fine, but most of the bluing is gone as is the cylinder engraving. Also pictured beside it is a Belgian made Centaur 1860 that is one of the closest to original made repro's you can find. Pictured for comparison to what a "new" 1860 may have looked like.

Nice pistol none the less. The shoulder stocks are quite rare and bring a premium as long as they're original to gun at the time of manufacture
