Clean up intake manifold

Good morning ODT

Any ideas on how to clean “burnt on mud color” off of an aluminum intake manifold? Brake cleaner etc doesn’t clean it off.

I’m going to remove it this after noon after we get home from the park. I’m about to put a replacement exhaust header on the jeep.

I just want it to look like clean aluminum again. I’m not opposed to painting it.

Welding supply has acid etch prep spray for aluminum that will make it bling.

Wire wheel, steel brush and some elbow grease. Also used some cast aluminum color engine paint

Yeah, i was gonna say that i thought that was a factory color paint .....possibly. But, looks good now.
The important part is how does the inside look ??
