Camping spots north of Atlanta

Yeah , that’s probably what we will end up doing. Just search for a real isolated spot. I want to show him a real camping experience.

Check this out. Try the interactive map. It's a big area and a ton of dirt/gravel roads. Go up to Currahee. Pretty cool. That's where they did some filming for Band Of Brothers. They used to train Rangers up there.

Are you familiar with Panther Creek?

There are two Panther Creeks in Ga as was posted earlier in this thread. The campground close to the Panther Creek Falls trailhead on Mill Creek Road/FS 630 is called Hickey Gap Campground.

Panther creek is still there. Take 85 to 411 to a left on old 411 take first right and head that way till you find it if I remember correctly.

My favorite car camping spot in NGA for summertime. Way down in a hollow with a cold creek that always carry's a cool breeze and shaded by hemlocks. What a nice spot. Even has a long drop crapper for the kid. And you can catch fish and swim in the pools.

Has anyone ever camped in the 2 campgrounds in Dawson forest wma? I’ve checked em out but never camped there.

when I was younger we used to drive the forest service roads up into tray mountain wilderness, several places to pull off and camp. Haven’t been up there in years.
Used to camp along needmore road outside of franklin NC along the little Tennessee River, would catch some decent smallmouth bass, rock bass and occasional trout. Fun times!
