A lot of vagaries, rants, innuendos. What did you experience that caused you to make these claims?

I haven’t shot there in a long while, I have outdoor ranges that I use. I did use the range from time-to-time in the past, and never saw any such issues. I’m a minority myself.

I Knew Kristina and Bert from Governors since before it opened. While I used to run IDPA matches there, there was a falling out and they really did not care who ran the matches. Since that time, I have never been back to shoot even though I went there for 3 to 4 years running the matches. They have had issues at that location, but I do not know what has been going on there since I stopped shooting there. Even though it was a longer drive than the range that is near my house, I gave them a lot of business. Needless to say, it sounds like they still have some bad employees that think they know what is right for that location. Outside of asking about the ammo you are shooting, I would not give them any information on my NFA items if they asked for it. I am sure this will drive away business if it keeps up at this location.

Been there many times with my non Caucasian friends and never had any issues. Seen lot's of minorities shooting there also without problems. Maybe you should ask GGC to address the complaints in the open forum.

I went yesterday to shoot some 22 and enjoy myself at the indoor range in Powder Springs.
Looks like we're moving to Mabelton/Austell (wife has family there) so this most disappointing to hear. Particularly the Brass thing as I'm a cheap-skate reloader & like to get good value for my brass but this isn't the 1st time I've heard of that policy. I know it costs $$$ to put up a decent facility but if your bottom line depends on nickel & diming your customers, you might want to rethink your financial model.

Just my POV but this isn't a Gun Club; it's a for-profit concert/bar/dining venue that has a retail gun store business offering a host of related service. Based on this, they're probably not getting any of my money in any of their operations & I'm willing to bet their prices across the counter can be beat fairly easily.

Thanks for the heads up Steve. DW was leaning toward an urban residence but there's abundant rural/hobby farm opportunities to be had at the same or better price points between Powder Springs and the TN/GA border.

BTW - voting w/ your wallet is quite effective and this is Mrs Griz's other half writing this.

I like Governor’s facilities. It’s the only place my wife will come along, because it’s clean, bright, & feels more high end than GAFL, for example.

But it is annoying when the rental counter guy wants to wax ineloquent about the virtues of 300 BO, for a solid 5 minutes, to a tire-kicker, while the wife & I are patiently waiting to check out.

I want them to do better. I hate these pile-on type threads. I hope they can get it together.

I've never heard of this either. I wonder if it's only for non-members. I love this Club, but there are definitely more advantages with a membership!

agreed. BUT I live in the suburbs. I don't have access to an outdoor range within a reasonable drive, so it's indoors or nothing. Sucks but it is what it is for now

it's new policy. I saw the signs as I was leaving Kennesaw last week, after shooting my 300SBR with can for a while. Nobody gave me grief. but I think we should all let them know how we feel.

I have been going to Governor's in Powder Springs since they opened. Maybe 100 + times. I have never encountered anything to make me stop going. The girls that work the range register have always been friendly and polite. They always thank my veteran Brother for his service. Other than a long wait time occasionally, I've never had an issue. I also pick up brass.

If you were thinking of buying a membership, then you should definitely check it out, because it's quite a different experience than going in as a non-member. Also, if you are willing to go to the Kennesaw location, it is by far my favorite. I would hate for people to write it off completely without checking it out, but I completely understand the OP's point, and I don't blame him for refusing to comply.

I went yesterday to shoot some 22 and enjoy myself at the indoor range in Powder Springs. As I was checking in I had to give my ID, which is fine. Then I get asked if I was going to shoot any NFA stuff. I have my legal, stamped 22 suppressor on a bolt gun so I said yes I do. They demanded to see my stamp, saying it was the law. I politely reminded them that it's not the law, only the ATF and IRS are legally allowed to demand NFA stuff, as it is a tax document.

One guy was like " Show me a picture of a stamp on your phone, I won't read it, I don't care what it says". OK fine, pulled it up.

THEN they say OK now fill out this log book. They opened it up to me to see a page of names, addresses, NFA items, and even serial numbers. Somebody around here has a nice collection, and your address is open for the world to see.

I absolutely refused this request, one being that it's personal and none of their business and two, I'm not looking to be part of a log book for homes to rob. Which was especially concerning given the very obvious broken front doors and gun cases within the range.

Based on the way they are putting unreasonable, inappropriate, and downright ignorant policies around something I, as a legal gun owner, have spent tons of times, money, and red tape on already to enjoy shooting I believe I'll be taking my business elsewhere until this policy is revoked.

We need all the 2A advocates we can get, especially in this day and age. Gun stores, ranges, and supply companies should be leading the charge in gun rights advocacy, not just making it even more onerous for legal gun owners to enjoy our hobbies and sports.
When I came to Georgia, I got a place I could set up my own range in, just so I didn’t have to go thru some range masters interpretation of safety or laws, I think Governor’s is way over priced for their stuff, and really isn’t worth the drive...maybe seek other options for putting some lead down, who needs more monitoring anyways!...hope u work out a free place to shoot, without being hassled. (Keep your powder dry)
