Bought my First Civil War Revolver.

Thank you so much @Rabbit2047 for your detailed help. I have attached further pictures of serial numbers, and additional markings. It’s a bummer, that the barrel markings are almost gone entirely along with just a few remnants of the barrel address. Although, I must say the other stampings are quite strong. With the correct screws/ and replacement hammer.. this pistol would restore very nicely. Serial number marks #1237.. I will continue to do research to try and track possible units it was issued to.

To my understanding, 33,000 were made...this included different types & revisions. With it being an early serial number, there’s no doubt this revolver has some stories of its own. I still have to check the back of the cylinder to see if it’s marked/ original to the pistol. A similar pistol, serial #1317 was issued to Company H Hamptons Legion South Carolina Volunteers. It is possible, with serial numbers being that close.. that this pistol spent a part of its life in South Carolina. I’m trying to find any shipping/ purchasing orders for these issued to SC.

Thanks sir. It was a pawn shop find. Kind of surprised me actually
Sly, it was your day! Treasures are where you find them. It's always fun to check the pawn shops out. Good for you, jumping on a treasure when you found it. Happy trails and may God bless America.
