Best Outdoor Ranges in North GA

It's a drive from Canton but the Wilson Shoals WMA range is very nice. It's operated by trained RSO's, has a 14 station 100 yard range (and a 10 station 25yd range). Social distancing policy has recently cut the table space in half.

Cost of admission - a hunting or fishing license (or you can spend twice the price for a Georgia Public Lands Pass, if you don't want your money going towards the death or torture of fish and wildlife (probably don't have many of those on ODT)

Gunsite Hills in Lexington is open to the public by appointment. I believe the longest range is 600 yards.

Seems like a public outdoor range in my neck of the woods would be a pretty financially lucrative venture.

Zoning is a lot bigger issue than finances.

Riverbend saw the handwriting on the wall and purchased its land far enough out and in a county where the zoning permitted it at the time. They wouldn't be able to build that facility today. Riverbend had enough money to buy a large enough tract of what was cheap land at the time that they wouldn't have to worry about the neighbors.

Etowah Sporting Clays is on land owned by the same county more or less. The ink wasn't dry on the lease before the county turned around and sued it over noise, spent $10's of thousand of tax dollars trying to shut it down. Took it all the way to the Supreme Court where the county soundly lost.
