Would it hurt to bead blast a stainless barrel to give it a satin finish? If not is there someone local to rome that could do it?

The problem with bead blasting is it makes it very susceptible to rust. When I worked in a CNC shop we would bead blast parts all the time before we dipped them in black oxide. If we didn't did them within a day or so, they would be covered in rust, and we would have to do it again.

I can tell you that bead blasted stainless scratches very easily and leaves a shiny mark everywhere it is scratched. It is not a very durable finish.

Bead blasted barrels get marred up and smoothed out (shiny) very easily. It won't keep that matte bead blast finish. After bead blasting, you can have it cerakoted clear to help in keeping the finish. By then, you may as well just have it cerakoted a matte stainless though.
