Ar gas issue...i think.

Got a BCG through a trade a couple weeks ago and finally got out to shoot it today. Well, it wont cycle. Grabbed another bcg and charging handle out of another rifle and it ran fine. What about the bolt carrier group could be causing this? It would either short shuck or stove pipe every single round. Same thing with different types of ammo. The only thing that looks off to me is that the gas key seems to be over staked but other than that all looks good to my amateur eye. Thanks Guys.

To add: theres no markings on the bcg that i saw. I was told its a PSA bcg.

Could be the gas key is obstructed or the rings are worn out

Ill check that. I hope its not the rings, supposedly has 5 shots on it.

Yes sir it was a little dirty but nothing serious. Supposedly has 5 shots through it.

Did you verify gas key/port is unobstructed with bolt removed?

Make sure the gas rings are staggered.

Take the bcg out of the rifle, flick it out so the bolt is fully extended and stand the entire assembly up on the bolt face and let it free stand. If it collapses the gas rings are shot or are incorrect size.

Are you running it wet?
