Anyone have a 458 SOCOM or 50 Beowulf that has advise before I get one?

I had a 458 Socom by Radikal Arms. It is fun to shoot, but between the ammo and recoil it's not very practical to shoot it much. I had some USMC Sapi plates that I tested it with at 50 yards.

I shot one plate with 22lr, 9mm and 5.56. Those did decent damage but the rounds came out the sides into the berm or ground. None penetrated.

Then I shot the other plate with the 458 and it looked like a mule kicked it. The back mushroomed out the size of a softball and turned the ceramic part of the plate to chunks and dust. So whatever you plan on using it for, it'll get the job done for sure.

As stated above it will turn ar500 steel plates into dog bowls. Iirc a 300gr pill hits with something like 3000 lbs of energy down range.

I had a buddy who had a 50 Beowulf That was an outstanding pig thumper. The gun was a blast to shoot and I see 50 Beowulf and 458socom at Cabelas for sale regularly.

Many. Yes, but swapping the follower helps, too.

Yes, and cheap thermold mags work great for Beowulf
