We see a pair of barred owls often. Middle of the day. They’re cool. They mate for life.

I say, that there's a chicken hawk. After seeing it today it's definitely big enough to take off with one of my chickens if it wanted to. He was in the trees behind the chicken coop watching the chickens in the yard.
We've got a breeding pair of Cooper's hawks during the spring and summer. When I first got chickens I had bantams and they were all under 2 pounds. Those Coopers Hawks did a number on my birds back then. Now all of my birds are 6-8lbs.I say, that there's a chicken hawk.
Probably a Barred Owl. There's a pair that nest in my valley every spring. They can get very talkative any time of day or night. The females can get some good size to them.
Déjà vu all over again... Watched this a couple of days ago. Cool birds of prey. Search YouTube for owls fighting hawks and wolves. They are some badass birds.
