A family member recently gave me this for cleaning & polishing a barrel? She sure looks like a gimmick to me. what say you?

Wasn't Flitz one of the older polishes?

I recall many years ago another ammo provider, offering bullets that had a compound on them, so you just fired them to polish the barrel...along with the carbon!?

Think I would prefer just using a mop and polish? Maybe that isn't aggressive enough to remove high spots?

We have always cast and shot lead out of just about every gun we had. Occasionally you get some leading and fouling that wont come out with standard practice.
So we used to ‘fire lap’ a bbl if it had fouling problems.
Instead of grease in the grooves of a few bullets , we put valve grinding compound. There are different grit rates you can use. We used a light to medium grit mostly and it did the job well. Takes about 5-10 rounds at the most from what my experience shows. It is best to shoot a few, clean and check it.
I have come across a couple that took like 20 rds…. Sometimes there is a tough spot to get polished down.
Just work slow and check it after several rounds. :)
