Any plumbers that can solve a mystery?

It’s either water hammering or you need to change out your PRV

I do have a grinder/pump in the sump, but the noise is present without it running. The noise is as loud as a smoke detector, sounds just like a bad bearing, can't really locate where it is coming from, but is loudest just outside the bathroom door, in the hall.

Do you have a pressure gauge?

Had the same problem with our toilet,, would whistle or screech very loud,, changed the flush unit insid the tank,, it quit

I do not have a water pressure gage. I do have a whole house water filter. The noise doesn't seem to be coming from the toilet.

The noise continues even after the toilet finishes filling. The PVR is in a closet about 20 feet away from where the noise is the loudest. I can't localize it.

Never, and been in the house 15 years
