Any night crawler / red wriggler farmers on the ODT?

I have a unbelievable patch of ground that has small red wrigglers in it. I have been adding eggshells, compost, and good soil, to it but wanted to know what I can do to get more of them. Have any of you ordered worms on line before? What is better night crawlers or red wrigglers? Any nutrients that I can add? ( I fish and would love to NEVER pay for live bait ever again)

Problem with worms in the ground is they tend to go where they want. There's lots of DIY containment systems that are easy and you will, in fact, never have to buy bait again. Good luck. (And plant a catalpa tree while you're at it. )

I am . But I buy worms for my kids and wife when they fish. On occasion when approaching new water I will throw a live worm on my fly rod to see what is swimming in there .


Been fishing at all? Those Fly rigs you had for sale last year are awesome.

My Dad raised meal worms in old refrigerators when I was kid. Trays filled with wheat shorts from feed and seed store and sliced up potatoes for moisture. We never ran out of bait.
