Any auto salvage folk here?

Go to Car-Part.com then click the search results that say Used Auto Parts Market. It shows the inventory of every real yard in the country. Localized by zip code. Also tells mileage condition interchange years and usually price. But some yards make you call for price
 
BTW ...my landlord has a complete early 00s TDI Jetta wagon that needed a transmission solenoid before the front bumper and headlights got singed in a fire. No damage to the rest of the car. Although as mentioned its an automatic transmission model. But something needs to be done with it while the engine is still usable.
 
You wanna make sure you can hear it run

buying a supposedly running engine that you can’t hear run is a real
Gamble .

best bet is to find a running donor car .
Usually buying the entire car is cheaper than just finding an engine .

im Not sure why , but the entire car is almost always less expensive that just the engine .

Good used engine is gonna cost a lot more than the car is worth .
But I’ve had several early tdi’s
We just spent more on Mrs roundhouses tdi beetle than it’s worth , because she loves it and finding another early tdi beetle with a manual transmission is impossible .

what happened to yours ?
