I'm officially done with gun shows. I've been to about 5 in a row without buying something, this time I actually did score a pretty good deal, but it was just luck. I enjoy talking to the private sellers and looking at real gun collections that someone has actually hunted with and can tell you some history on. I don't care for all of the retail stores laying out their inventory. I ended up buying an H&R Handi rifle in 308 heavy barrel, came with a scope, sling and a box of ammo for $325 OTD. I was pretty pleased with that deal. Rest of the show sucked. Classic Firearms from Macon was there and it was hard not to cuss those people out. Theyre the biggest price gougers ive ever seen in my life. The guy in yellow shirt from "AR Parts Specialist" sold me a bad box of ammo and wouldn't take it back. 6 rounds were missing and 10 of them were random handloads. Was suppose to be a box of 200g 35 Whelen. I tried searching AR Parts Specialist, but that name is so generic that I couldn't locate the company to leave them a bad review.

Gun shows are nothing more than price gougers now. You're better off going to retail stores or gunbroker. Places like Adventure Outdoors, Southern Outdoors in Tifton, Barrow in Butler.

Anyone else go to the show in Columbus this weekend? Any other retail stores where you're having better luck?

Tell me how many other places can you spend $15 or whatever it was and have that much fun? Since it wasn't even a drive for you.

Have you ever been to Southern or Adventure? All jokes aside, they really are better than a trip to the gun show.

Not arguing, I see your point. But I have to drive all over town to hit 4 or 5 shops and spend all day doing it, or I can hit one gunshow for $15 and hit 100 different vendors and private sellers, run into old friends, make chitchat, and have a good time for a couple of hours. I might even score a scoped Handi Rifle in .308 for $325.

Really I'm just throwing a little humor your way, I know it looks like I'm busting your balls.

I just enjoy the shows when they come around. I do very rarely buy anything, given the current climate. But the scouting for overlooked deals and rare items is fun. It's like going to the flea market or yard sales but it's (mostly) all gun stuff.
