yep. shook pecan trees for pecans that didn't belong to us. explored the woods and dammed up the creeks. fished in O.E. White's pond and when we'd hear his truck coming we'd disappear into the woods. play baseball all day long. play kick the can into the evening. play ball under the street lights up on our hill. throw rocks at screech owls and bats. sneak into Callaway Gardens through the cottages gate and harass tourist girls. ride our bikes out to the FDR State Park Liberty Bell cold as hell pool and be home by dark. rode minibikes all over town with Phil & Wayne and Bill and Don and Jeff and never bothered by the cops. All of this was done without crossing the tracks that ran through the center of Pine Mtn cuz we were told by our parents to stay on our side of town. ahh, the good ol' days.....
Used to fly fish for bats under the street lights, didn't bother with hooks. Even kept one for a few days as a pet but it never ate anything so it was released.
80's kids did all that too, except we also smoked a pack of cigarettes while checking out our porn magazine stash hidden in the woods.
Thats true to most of the 70s and half the 80s kids I know/knew.
