Answered my door to a blk guy forcing himself in my house with a small pistol. Threatened me and my wife. To just turn around and leave. WTF..

You don't need a gun. You'll panic and then the person just trying to survive and on the verge of turning their life around will use it against you. Just call 911 like a civilized person.

A High-Point pistol with a laser sighting system is a pretty good "home defense" gun on the cheap - cheap. They were selling for $175 before the COVID / riots this year.
They hold 10 rounds.
Known to be reliable. Ugly, heavy, (not good for on-body carry) but functional.
Learn to shoot it, and your wife too.
