All my 10/22s have the newer style Mag release. None are flat. Is that an option that I can purchase as an add on?

Just my 2 cents here. Keep the factory extended and enjoy. I do think they are a improvement over the flat release but as many of us have said definitely do not get one of the extended that go around the trigger guard they're terrible.

That's the truth. If I had been purchasing new versus new I'd of gone with the Whistle Pig barrels you mentioned.

Good luck to you! I wish I could give you advice, but I always put way to much money into my 10/22 builds. Worth every penny though. Cheapest way I believe is to find a used one here. Still going to be $350-$500 depending on trader and condition.

Dang Brownells may never get back in stock. Very frustrating.. I gave up waiting and bought a Tactical Innovations. Yes they are expensive but damn they're nice.
If you're not sold on building one from scratch be patient and buy one on here or at a gun show. Prices seem to be easing up a little bit.
