before you go rebuilding your upper, playing with gas ports, or anything else. check your buffer.
a lot of cheaper buffers will cause problems. i just fixed a 300 bo for a buddy. it would fire and eject but not chamber the next round, occasionally he could get 2 or 3 rounds, but most times just...
i done a few myself. i just clock the flash hider, lock it in the vise, drill it about 3/4 way thru. snap the bit off and weld the hole up. touch up with a little paint.
but thats for my personal stuff....
yea
for it to split half way up like that. seems like with plastic/paper wadding and bird shot,it would be hard to build that kind of pressure thru a 12ga hole without blockage..
that sucks.
check the proof marks on it. if he was running modern ammo, the loads may have been way too hot. or in the past it had seen a lot of slugs thru a choked barrel.
what was he hunting? dove and quail with low brass 7 1/2 or geese with high brass steel?
if the barrel has proofs on it,it should be fine to shoot approved ammo.
its not like its rusted thru or thin. shotguns are tough, even cheap ones. so a lc smith is a sledge hammer.
if the bores are rusty, run some red scotch brite thru them, clean the up and shoot it. it the internals are frozen...
do you want to keep the tube? if you are not worried about it,lock the lower in a vice with a vice block. heat the ever livin crap out of the tube. unscrew it with a pair of channel locks. spray paint the tube black. sell in on here "anib" for 3 times the cost of a new one. but a new one and...
ar's are super simple. dont be afraid to tackle it yourself. look at a video you should be able to do it.
its always a good idea to be able to maintain your rifle....
just microwave them. or you can open the back of an old tube TV. you will find radiation warning sticker, crack that part open ,reach in,and smear it on the sights. good to go..you can also rub it in your eyes and be able to see in the dark...
disclaimer
this was a joke, and not a very good one...
full blown firearms in hampton
have you thought about one of the adjustable chokes? you can run, bird, buck, and slugs thru them.
they can be had pretty cheap. i know some guys dont like them, but they are great for the "pack gun"set up...
or panicking to get that last gift. or just happy to escape the house full of family.
or happy to show your bro in law from California how America looks...
but yea, kinda late but always a fun show...
