Got everything back from @Nonliberal Friday, everything mounted up this morning and its back ready to kick some ass. Thanks everyone for the help / suggestions and Dobbs for getting me back in business!
Fantastic work!!
Thanks man. Dobbs was suggested and I talked to him on the phone. I feel 110% confident about that decision.
With that said, I forgot all about @Shadow Hunter Concepts (I know he does good work and is local to me but forgot) and Accurate Ordnance who I have never used before but after a...
I have heard of soaking it in water before. Don't remember when I heard about that but now that you mention I do remember hearing about it.
I went ahead and sent it to Dobbs over lunch today. Now its out of my hands and I wont get any more ideas and start trying stuff over the weekend. I...
Honestly thats my problem. I am not confident with my abilities. It took me ages before I attempted to even put a muzzle brake on. Once I got comfortable with it I have done quite a few times since then. Its awesome being able to do it myself. I converted over from ASR to the key-mo so I...
This is awesome information. I didn’t know any of this. I used the torque wrench to find out “untorque” specs all the time. I am not the most handy of people though.
Sending it to @Nonliberal after speaking with him on the phone this morning. I believe this is my best option.
Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions!!!
I don’t have enough comfort with it to do it. Given my luck so far I am going to give up and let a professional handle it. Kind of wanted to get it cut back to 20” anyway.
I appreciate all your help!
When I was putting it on the amount of torque “felt” right and I didn’t get the feeling I was going overboard. But now that I am trying to remove it, it seems like my tools or the flats are going to give up first. I don’t believe I have a tool around that will...
Alright guys its definitely professional time. I believe this guy is torqued way too tight.
I tried a pipe wrench and it just slid. Then tried a wrench with a big breaker bar and the brake flats started to deform. This thing seems to be essentially welded. Definitely (past) time for a pro...
Might be (past) time for a professional.
Anyone know if you can cut and rethread a barrel with "parts" of the muzzle brake still on? Its currently 24" inches and knocking a few off wouldnt hurt my feelings.
I noticed there were some very small flats left. I put the wrench back on it and I am starting to think it maybe WAY over torqued and my wrench maybe the suspect (well at least the cause). Not sure its coming off. That joker is on there. I tried to remove a lug nut at 35 ft lbs and the damn...
Calibrated? No seriously its never been calibrated. It seems that sucker is on there. Maybe I tried to put it on with 100 ft lbs and just didnt realize it. That is very possible.
Vice grips are an option but I am worried about making things worse. Which at this point may not even be possible.
Got a new Bergara BMP and was putting a Dead Air brake on it last night.
Barrel was vised and tightened down securely and brake was being installed using an armorers wrench (Like I have done numerous times before). Torque wrench set at 30 ft lbs and clicked just shy of 12' oclock. Set it to...
Here is Savages response:
Hi Jon,
You currently have the accustock which has a unique recoil lug. If you want to change to the HS Precision you will need to have a gunsmith change or modify the recoil lug on your current firearm
Please call the service department with the serial number on the...
