  1. 870 shotgun furniture and Cerakote?

didn't realize y'all were doing coatings. Something like the second photo on post #4 there is what I had in mind. I'll stop by in the near future.
  2. 870 shotgun furniture and Cerakote?

typically I would agree but I received this one as a gift from an uncle and would like to make it a little "special". I've got plenty of other shotguns that are stock and will remain that way (Winchester 97,101, Beretta A400, Browning 12, 42. etc).
  3. 870 shotgun furniture and Cerakote?

Picked up an older 870 last week. Wood furniture is pretty rough. I’m thinking to get some updated furniture and maybe even Cerakote the action/barrel. Any recommendations for furniture? Love the looks of the WooX stuff but of course it’s a bit pricey. Magpul obviously makes good stuff. Anyone...
  4. Anyone know who cuts rail pocket openings for FSB? See Pics..

check with D Wilson- he does a lot of one off stuff.
  5. School me on QD muzzle device installation

no crush washers. The rods from McMaster are good, check once you mount your flash hider/mount and can and then you should be good to go. shims are fine if you need to time a brake or something. Rockett or I use Vibratite HotLock on my muzzle devices is good insurance to make sure the muzzle...
  6. Best Rifle Vise

I have the tipton and while it's great for cleaning and mounting scopes and such its not what I would really call a vise. It will hold things steady but if you are putting torque on something like a barrel or muzzle device it's not going to work. i have a full size metal vise I use for a lot...
  7. upper receiver rear lug width?

That’s what I did. Only took a couple of light strokes.
  8. upper receiver rear lug width?

These are the dimensions being referenced above. That was my thoughts as well. If I come across a friend with a mill or something in the future to machine out the lower correctly, I'll do that but for now making the upper "more slim" (and closer to the others since most of the others worked...
  9. upper receiver rear lug width?

So I'm putting together a couple of lowers and uppers the past few months as I collect parts. Two Wilson Combat lowers are part of the mix and what prompted my issue. Or at least reared its ugly head. Put an upper I purchased on ODT onto my newly finished WC lower and it's a no go. Upper has a...
  10. Crash Course in 10/22s

nice stocks, I like the color.. and what rail did you put on them? I probably need to upgrade an older model with a rail.
  11. @cmshoot, Is this excessive bolt cam pin wear and should I replace it?

any reason to "upgrade" to something like the Lantac (or POF if so inclined) domed pin or just put in an FCD and call it a day? https://www.lantac-usa.com/product-page/cp-r360-cam-pin
  12. PT&G

historically they are bad about any communications and delivery promises. Basically if they don't have it in stock, and you aren't in any hurry then go ahead and order it, you'll eventually get it but might take a few months.
  13. cerakote stripped or built?

That's what I figured but thought I'd ask as I haven't had anything cerakoted before. Now to figure out if she wants something besides black. :)
  14. cerakote stripped or built?

For my daughters birthday we are building a set of AR15's. Bought two stripped lowers and have parts to build some uppers to go with them. Offered to maybe get hers Cerakoted in whatever color she would like (she may just stick with plain old black) but I got to thinking if I were going to...
  15. Contender 22lr barrel threading locally?

just pulled the barrel out to check the front sight. It's been so long since I shot it I forgot it was an octagonal barrel and the front sight is part of the barrel. Might check into selling it and buying a dedicated one, but will see what the market it like for the older barrels.
  16. Contender 22lr barrel threading locally?

cutting back to go before the sight is a good idea! I'll go check and see how it's mounted, I assumed it was fixed but possibly not! or if anyone has had a contender barrel threaded for not crazy money, let me know. A new barrel threaded is like $350 I think, was hoping to find someone that was...
  17. Contender 22lr barrel threading locally?

Anyone had a contender barrel threaded anywhere near Atlanta and happy with the job? the only issue I could see if the front sight is much bigger than most. would be fine to have it removed but it's integrated into the barrel as far as I can tell.. I've got a 22lr and a 22 hornet barrel that...
  18. Anyone looking for a part time person to help build AR15s?

if you want a good read and are thinking about getting into gunsmithing and such, google "brimstone triggers" and have a read. Guy that is very well known in the 10/22 circles for his triggers. Take a read about his story and history with gunsmithing and working on guns...
  19. So tired of junk Allen wrenches

just got a new set of WERA tools, but have been using Bondhaus for years with zero issues. Lots of junk ones as well but when I need to do something right, it's one of those two. Or the Park bicycle Y-tool. Have two from a few years in a bicycle shop and no telling how many allens those things...
  20. Word to the wise on where to post your “problems” first

I agree. I have worked for a few companies in different industries and sometimes we will let a customer send a photo of a product issue, particularly if it's something that we are aware of but not worth doing a "recall" or anything, but an issue that does pop up every so often. If I received...
