I have a Victory Model 38 that I found out had the exact same problem when I was checking it out thoroughly getting ready to sell to someone all lined up. I was really embarrassed I had to PM and tell him without him thinking I got a better deal somewhere. I plan on getting it fixed if I can...
I agree. But at one time I had enough 1911s where I wanted to add night sights and the like and it made the investment worthwhile. Pop the tool and tenon sight on, tighten and then run the three tools down the front side (shearer, peener and finisher)....
IIRC, there are three basic tenon widths. The old GI 0.056", newer version .125" from Colt and I believe that Springfield is the oddball and they use .085". Staking the tenon on the inside of the slide actually requires peening it to keep it in the slot and not protrude so much it interferes...
A decent machine shop experienced with barrel threading can drill out and tap the barrel for an insert that also has the threaded part for the can (and thread cover). I had this done on my Beretta Model 87 and you can hardly see where that part fits with the barrel.

Try taking a pencil eraser and spinning it on the contacts for the battery. Sometimes batteries leak and oxidize and can cause resistive contact loss that drops the CR123A voltage. The best kind of eraser would be one of those erasers on the end of a pencil/pen that can erase ink (more...

Apply as directed then use a rag to wipe off excess. Then, I used an air compressor spray tip (100 PSI) to hit it. What was...
Before you you and give away a salvageable grip panel, I can send you and uninstalled grip screw, non-threaded escutcheon and and threaded escutcheon..... pop out the old threaded one and and glue in the replacement. The uninstalled screw is 1.25" long and the two escutcheons are uninstalled...
I have an old 1943 USGI Colt 1911A1 that had the same problem. I didn't want to change out the main recoil spring to keep it original so I swapped out the original magazine for a Wilson Combat magazine with a plastic follower....that cured the problem right up.
FWIW, Brownells sells a Weigand Extractor tension and adjusting tool (has pull gauge inserts also). Had the same kind of ejection placement problems with one of my 1911s that some here have mentioned...... used it and it works...
Had that problem once working on the seeker head of a missile guidance system trying to pull off the radome. Called the Navy and they said they used locking compound and the only way to get it loosened up without damage was to take the tip of a soldering iron that would fit in the cross of the...
Nothing wrong with that stock, frankly. Especially if there is a visible and/or distinct acceptance cartouche and proof stamp. on the butt heel grip. You go getting somebody to go-nuts on it with a bunch of new aged finishes and it lessens the value, period. Lightly clean it, maybe wipe it...
I'm thinking somebody probably put a dab of loctite on the screw so it wouldn't work loose and that's what helped strip out the screw head. Years ago I was tryna take the radome off an AGM-88 HARM guidance assembly and had to call China Lake and ask them about it. Guy said they loctite them in...
