I’ve have good luck getting the torx tip out by tapping it lightly with a magnet.
Broke several T10s recently trying to remove a Ruger rail, including a Dewalt supposedly rated for impact use. Finally got it with a Snap-on bit.
Not sure it’d work the same on an SKS but shortening the barrel after the gas block will reduce dwell time like on an AR. I’m also not sure if Paratroopers had larger gas ports to make up for this.
Cool project though.
If you try to sell it, it will never be worth the sum of its parts. Most people don’t want a parts gun so just plan to keep it.
Other than that, building one is fun and you can make exactly what you want. I’d try to use a matching upper and lower, and quality barrel and bolt/carrier...
Right around $200 for the mods to shorten the 6720. Plus the $200 stamp.
Roughly $1100 for a new 6933 plus the stamp. And I could maybe get $1000 for my 6720 as it sits.
My fear is that a shortened 6720 won’t perform like a factory 6933, for whatever reason. Any reason to think that?
Considering having Adco shorten my 6720 to 11.5”. Obviously, they will have to open up the gas port as well. My question is does it make sense to do this or sell the 6720 and purchase a 6933?
Thanks.
Definitely not an expert but all the cartridges you named have the same rim diameter (.473”). I’d see no reason to have to change the bolt for any of those.
