I'm in Marietta and am looking for someone to thread a barrel on a .22lr. to take a direct thread suppressor. It's very accurate and I don't want to lose that.
Any suggestions?
It may just be the pic, but it looks like you have some bulging at the base of the shoulder. That's very bad, is the result of a poorly cut chamber and would cause this exact problem.
Hmm, I'd try to find a definitive fix to the weapon before experimenting with ammo as a solution. A .308 AR 10 should be able to handle any ammo, other than subs, with no problem.
It may actually be over gassed. I had a similar problem with a 300Blk that was built to shoot subs. I had to have an adjustable gas block installed so I could turn it down and slow down the bolt to be able to shoot supers.
How about welding a metal plug to the cut down bolt itself? Thread the plug, screw it on and then do a small weld to make it permanent. It would act as the bolt head and be much stronger and removable. You could even add a lanyard ring to the plug if you wanted to.
I don't understand why there is so much interest in this ammo. There is plenty of subsonic .22lr ammo out there that doesn't need all these special modifications to your rifle to function properly.
My go to squirrel ammo is CCI Subsonic HP Segmented and it runs great in my stock 10/22. It's so...
If your rifle's action has a shelf to rest the level on both sides, like a Rem 700 does, trust the levels, not your eye. I have used this leveling system on many rifles and it works. I double check every time by doing the hanging rope thing and it's always dead on. This is assuming your scope...
