I agree.
After a weird season where you had a HC that was thought to be an offensive guru with loaded talent on that side of the ball - it was the defense that kept them in most games.
Obviously the offense was lesser than the sum of its parts so I would not be surprised if they reshuffled...
If Belichik can build this team into a SB winner in 3-5 years before retiring, so be it. It would be a destination job when he left. They’d have their pick of any coach to replace him.
Get that first SB win and let’s go from there. Blank probably is on the same timeline as well given his age.
I will say this about the current team: they are much closer to being a real contender than they have been since 2017. The defense is allowing 19.2 points per game which is 6th in the NFL this year.
They seem to have a lot of the piece parts of a good team there if they can figure out the QB...
I am still here.
My argument was not that Matt Ryan wasn’t a good QB but rather that he wasn’t worth the money to keep him after the SB run. There were a lot of needs on the o-line to be addressed in FA that year that weren’t because of the cap and the contract they had to give him to stay...
I did. That was me! I’ve been a fan for a long time and have come to expect a devastating loss in some embarrassing fashion.
Was good to see the Falcons at the top of the division even if it’s a dumpster fire this year.
He took the head coaching job with the niners right?
I don’t think he was released if I recall…
Maybe you’re saying you would have fired Quinn and promoted Shanahan to keep him in ATL?
Hindsight is 20/20 but remember that this all happened during the week of SB LI. I can’t imagine that a team...
My problem with Ryan was that megacontract that they gave him after 2016.
So much money for a QB with no rings. He was not worth it. They couldn’t afford to acquire a decent o-line in FA because of that contract.
Anyway then the Falcons do the most idiotic thing possible and get rid of him...
as a gt fan, even i was sitting there in the fourth quarter thinking "uga should just run the ball like they did in the third quarter and gt loses by six as time expires." however - just like paul johnson has done on several occasions - kirby got a little too cute with throwing the ball and the...
I'm trying to stay even-keeled on this one. 2 games against the Marlins are probably not a fair representation of a whole season.
Still...I remain cautiously pessimistic.
i would be shocked if the braves are over .500 this year. sad thing is, fredi will finally get the boot after being given nothing to work with.
he probably should have been fired a couple of seasons ago when he managed a half-way decent team into a very premature post-season exit. if they win...
