FWIW, you can fish all the way around Lake Lanier except for a couple of security zones. There is a COE setback around the whole lake.
Don't get on any docks or boathouses. Some owners will try to run you off (ask me how I know) but the local LEO are well versed on the situation. The setback...
I have a couple of one piece, old school cane poles - only 10 ft. long. Slung thousands of fish out of the river on them. I treat them like handmade fly rods. More fussy about them than my graphite rods.
I have not read the lease, but my understanding from informed sources in a place to know say that the landowner retained all of the rights of a landowner. Some of the land was rented out for crops, hay; timber was cut, and so on.
Haven't checked but landowner probably had a conservation...
Mt follow up to my above post (apparently I can't create a poll) if you, as a citizen of the State of Georgia, has to choose to millions of dollars to Rivian, a private company, and preserving Pine Log for generations of Georgians to come, where would you want your money to go?
Late to the party, hate to interject deep thoughts,
The State of Georgia granted tax credits and financial support to a Rivian plant outside Madison Georgia. No one knows exactly how much, but it's tens of millions of dollars, if not hundreds of millions. The benefit to Georgia is that it...
I have 4 one piece cane poles that I treat like Orvis Fly rods, because I have no idea where I would get another one.
No more fun for perch jerking than a good limber cane pole.
Just an extended comment about we now have about 2 generations of people who don't think fish should taste fishy.
For sure, none of them having ever eaten smoked mullet right out of the smoker, with a good supply of adult beverages
Reason tilapia is so popular is:
(a) it's cheap, but it;s really not a lot cheaper than other fish that isn't raised in Asian sewers.
and
(b) it has no inherent flavor, and so takes on the flavor of whatever or however it's cooked. This aspect is actually mentioned in several cookbooks. So...
I used to do a fish fry for a block party.
Mixed catch of freshwater fish.
Panfish, I would fry whole, - catfish, white bass, black bass filet, except for squealers - lover frying squealers whole.
Invariably some millennial would say:
1. This tastes fishy.
2, OMG, this has bones in it...
They are in the sucker family, and suckers have really sweet meat, very tasty. Even the hornyheads fry up good. They have big bones so easy to eat around.
1970's , used bass casting weights, for fishing the cypress knees and not get hung up.
If I'd known it was "something" would have named it after myself.
analyzing the market is why there is a stock market.
personally, I've stopped being interested in "was running when parked" items. As mentioned, the motor is the big ticket item, the boat is a throw in, unless you are talking about a Bertram or such.
Funny you should say that about 2 stroke.
Not disputing that in general, but I know plenty of people who search out good running 2 strokes, particularly in the higher HP range, because of the weight difference and ease of maintenance. I'm not one of them, but then I don't feel the need to run...
Crowes Lake, it's as close to a sure thing as you can get.
Just a little spendy for me.
Apparently doesn't open until May 1
