You can ask me whatever you want to know. I suppose if a ODT trip is going to happen this year, it's gonna fall on me to set it up.
I go at least once a month up to Rock Creek for a weekend, if not twice a month. May be going next weekend depending on weather and how turkey hunting goes this...
We did do that for 8 years in a row. @hikingthehills was too busy to go last year so it didn't happen. Seems he's not going to make it this year either.
They can kinda be a-holes about that kinda thing. I ran into one last year, a buddy and I were trout fishing, had 7 trout total between two of us. All 7 fish were in the same bag in the cooler on ice. He asked to see what we had caught and then made a remark about which one of us sucked at...
I probably use gold or pink the most, but chartreuse/white would be pretty close as well. I've caught trout on probably 15 or more different colors, but I use those 3 more than anything else by a wide margin.
I dont fish the hooch very often for several reasons, due to not owning any type of...
I've had the most luck on gold, black/gold, chartreuse/white, and pink. Never can tell which color will be best which day, and some days I'll end up switching colors pretty frequently. I usually start with gold most days and change based on what reactions I'm getting.
I've had the opposite experience. I've caught close to or over 1000 trout on trout magnets and only about 15-20 of those have come from fishing it under a float.
And no, that number isnt a typo or an exaggeration. However, 99% of those fish were from mountain streams. I have had very little...
Only applies to waters they cover, but the Chattahoochee Forest National Fish Hatchery posts a weekly stocking report on their facebook page every Friday.
I'm just trying to have some fun catching a few once in a while. If by up north, you mean north of Lanier, I wouldn't mind giving that a shot. I'm only fishing below the dam cause I dont know anywhere else to go this time of year to catch any. Its almost a 40 minute ride to the dam from my...
Went for a couple hours today after lunch. Tried everything suggested. Caught 2 small browns on a super duper, had a few more chase it but wouldnt bite. Talked to another guy that said today was one of his worst outings there. Nothing else I tried worked at all.
I've got chest waders and was using chest waders. As for fly fishing, I wouldn't even have a clue where to start with what gear to get or how to use it. Probably couldnt afford enough to even get started right now.
Need some recommendations here. I can catch trout all day long in the mountains, mostly using trout magnets. However, I cant seem to even get a bite out of the chattahoochee, no matter what I've tried. Went below the Buford dam Sunday afternoon and despite seeing fish jumping everywhere, I could...
The one thing that really irks me is people fishing too close to me. I hate being crowded by other people. If I'm trout fishing and someone gets within 20-30 yards of me, I'll either say something not very nice or pick up and move to a different spot. Usually I just move.
Might want to consider restringing all of them. 8lb line is pretty heavy for ultralights and trout in the mountains. I usually use 4lb, but I wouldn't go heavier than 6lb. Rooster tails don't require much explanation either. Toss and retrieve, just make sure the blade is spinning. Get you some...
