  1. Going fishing near Cherokee NC and have no idea how to catch a trouts

First and second, double check and make sure you're licensed correctly. A lot of tribal and fed land(especially around water) Long story short, native leo love handing out pay on the phone fines
  2. line type for trout fishing........

    Thanks
  3. line type for trout fishing........

I don't go under 6 pound test. Braided is too light no matter what test. I use stren, spiderwire, Berkley **** I don't care. It just needs to be fresh and ot stretched out or spool printed ( whatever yall call it where the line sits in spirals on top of the water) I don't worry about line...
  4. packable rods/multi piece rods

You gonna put a Shimano reel on a pack rod though?
  5. packable rods/multi piece rods

I've consolidated and am back to a small ugly stick g2 mated to an abu Garcia cardinal i traded @BIKER13 for when i first found odt. Its not as compact as a telescoping rod but it works well for me and especially kayaking. I also have a dock demon setup that I really enjoy. Highly recommend...
  6. Kayak Fishing Thread

Borrowed a kayak this weekend. Was a 10.4' boat that has not been taken out since last year when it sank and hand recovered out of 6 ft of chattahoochee water. I didnt think anything of it. Thought the person that sank it was drinking too much and did something dumb to have sank it because they...
  7. good trout lures for chattahoochee?

youreally should get into fly fishing. Sounds like you have a different take on it than I do. Rock creek is nice but agreed- it's in BFE. There is a really good stretch on the soquee that is public land you should check out. It's about 15 min north of North Georgia tech. I've caught many over 5...
  8. good trout lures for chattahoochee?

I cant catch with them, but an old timer I fish with uses the 'salmon egg hooks' and does a similar method. He fishes with a graphite pole and can feel the hits better than me with my fiberglass pole.
  9. good trout lures for chattahoochee?

that's because if I see it I buy it all. Will last a while if kept room temp and sealed. I'm not a fly guy. But I have seen some guys land some nice ones below the mark of the potter on the soquee
  10. good trout lures for chattahoochee?

I fish the north end of the hooch. Often. I have gotten lucky with a few similar to the rapala lure shown above. But that is the lure I pull when I have exhausted everything else and just want to cast. There is a sinking and a floating, grab both. It is a "catch all" in the hooch. I have...
  11. Best inexpensive polarized Sunglasses?

    Check out flying fishermen glasses.
  12. Trespassing while Fishing question

will get thrown out of habersham too.
  13. your fishing pet peeves

yes, I have heard some colorful language in these situations. Saw 2 brothers fighting over this on the soquee walking to my spot. Brother 1 was fishing a hole and brother 2 walked up on him cast 1 time as I was walking by and hooked a very nice rainbow. Brother 2 got it in and it was a...
  14. your fishing pet peeves

Be the last time that we fished together! I don't let my trout rods ever touch dirt. Even the ass of the rod I will never throw my rod down in the dirt or sand. No matter how big the fish. Ever. *repeat last 3 sentences* All that being said can't say I have had a pole in my mouth. Maybe its...
  15. Fly Fishing Thread .....

    In. Good thread op
  16. How to price a Jon boat

  17. Best rod and reel?

I am a big fan of the ugly stuck setups. For pond fishing I bring a rod and reel combo called a dock demon or some ugly sticks. They are around 20 bucks but very well built and not invested I like live bait. Worms and blue backs.
  18. Maybe a new Lanier record

Doesn't look like a stocker! Was expecting a striper. Nice catch
  19. wildcat creek by lake burton.

Those assholes catching fish there are running down stock trucks. Those aren't trout, they are minnows.
  20. Best bait for brook trout

If you're on the hooch (north of lanier) All those rich folks have feeders and they feed the same food as hatchery. All you need is corn, worms (hand dug are better imo) and power bait the color of fish pellets. I like the salmon egg hooks but everyone has their preference. Go anytime NOT...
