Hey Shotgun, I would recommend contacting a fisheries biologist, from either the GA D.N.R, or maybe UGA.
There is so much that goes into the equation. Pond size, cover underneath the surface, including current flow, how much forage is available, etc., etc.
It far surpasses what I know.
if...
Dude, I don't know. It's been a long time since I was in the fishing game.
If it is, you can certainly check reports for the Coosa River a little south of Rome, GA.
You can point out so many cool factors about Mahi.
In my mind, one would we be the taste. Best eating fish I have ever had.
But when you get one in the boat, and see not only the colors that change, but the speed those colors change, they are truly magnificent fish.
Congrats.
Nice find. One of my first spinning reels was a Garcia Mitchell 300, but I don't think it had a classic round body like that one (and that was a long time ago).
In those days I used to cut the wire bail off most of my spinning reels so I didn't have to flip it open on each cast. The line...
Bear, you are a s Striper deity in my mind now. :) There; is no hint of sarcasm in that statement what-so-ever .
The biggest Striper my wife and I ever caught was several pounds below your biggest landed Striper.
Listen to the guides. They know far more than I.
The only thing I would...
Oh hell yeah! Abu Garcia was good,
Used a few Abu Garcia at times in my day, but gravititaded towards Shimano after my bike riding days as a kid.
Shimano was the most smooth (and reliable) gear change as a kid, and that translated to my fishing days.
The drag in my adult years was...
Agree on the GamaKatsu 2/0 and for big baits, 1/0 usually. I never had one break. Small quality hooks catch some big fish.
If you have a quality reel with good drag, a good main line, and Seagaur flouro leader 15 - 17 lbs ( 17 lbs MAX) made a difference. We caught fish over 30 pounds on 15...
Exactly what I thought when reading this, and I doubt it's what Bear44 wants to hear.
I only fished Lanier a few times with guides and guide friends at the time. It was OK, but not like Carters. That's not to say you are going to load the boat at Carters. It can be tough.
Bear, I wish I...
One other thing I forgot to mention besides the rock salt, in the summer I'd also toss in a big bag (or 2) of ice which also helped considerably. And I constantly cleaned the bait tank filter for the first hour or so until the shad stopped purging :)
Yep, you are correct, Sir. It is not actually sold yet according the article. The lease has not been renewed according to Fox5.
But something in my head tells me that it will eventually be sold and become a new neighborhood. Regardless, it is now closed to the public.
