  1. Intro to competitive shooting advice

I agree with Rob. Steel Challenge is a great beginner sport and kids LOVE IT. A lot of the world record holders in the sport are teenagers.
  2. USPSA returns to Newnan

We're still there too. We do "every Tuesday at Autrey's" and "last Sunday in Newnan". (This month was an anomaly on dates because the last two Sundays of the month were Xmas Eve and NYE.) And GlockSpeed, you need to come out and play. The boys are old enough now that they can participate and...

  5. USPSA returns to Newnan

Despite earlier thoughts to the contrary, we WILL be hosting a USPSA match in Newnan on Sunday, 17 December. East Alabama won’t be shooting this month, so it opened up that Sunday for us. Two field courses and two Speed Shoots/Standards...

  12. Sometimes you just can't win......

Shooting in the rain, as we used to say in the Army, "builds character". Actually, to think about it, everything that sucked in the Army was said to build character...

  14. Pistol competitions, where to start?

We host a USPSA match at Autrey's Armory in Fayetteville every Tuesday evening at 7 (be there and registered by 6:45). It's a great group of laid-back folks who've mentored a ton of new shooters over its 30 year history.
  15. CMP RSO course

I did it two years ago at Talladega. Pretty informative.
  16. Bottom of the Drawer

Was that built by Ben Jones at GunCraft in Florida? He (or Blake Gann in NC) did a lot of the Paras back in those days.
  17. Bottom of the Drawer

    Was there also.
  18. Can we get all the fudd crap out of competitive shooting?

Two fast C hits will beat two slow Bullseye shots every day IRL. Those two fast C's may not perma-stop your attacker instantly, but it'll change his channel and give him pause to think about his own mortality whilst you move for better cover or slow down for that Upper A shot.
  19. Can we get all the fudd crap out of competitive shooting?

Actually, in a mathematical sense, Comstock scoring DOES reward speed more than accuracy. When you divide "Target Points" by "Time in Seconds" to arrive at a Hit Factor, the most difference in the Answer is the "Time in Seconds" (the Divisor, if I recall grade school math correctly). Let's say...
  20. "Carry Gun" match in Fayetteville

We had 25 folks show up to play. It ended up being pretty fun and educational. Folks learned that it is much harder to shoot short sight radiused guns at high speed. Glock models 43X, 45 and 48, SIG 365s, and Hellcats were popular entrants. I was happy with my performance, except on the...
