  1. Odd 1945 GI bring back

Yep, it has a "crown over R" proof mark which is supposed to be Belgian. Also a "star over P" mark but no "ELG". It's the Velo Dog type but evidently no way to identify the maker. Thanks everybody.
  2. Odd 1945 GI bring back

Blip, It does have an octagon barrel. Was Western Arms in business in 1945?
  3. Odd 1945 GI bring back

This is a bring back from the European theater with the paperwork but no maker's name. It's SA and DA, 12 shot .22 LR. Some proof marks but not Nazi. I suspect it's Belgian. It's all steel and a nice quality piece. Anybody recognize it?
  4. Ivory grip blanks

I think that interstate sales of ivory is regulated by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Maybe their website has some info. There may not be any problem selling within the state of Georgia. I've never heard of any state regulation of ivory. I would suggest calling Nutmeg. They can answer your...
  5. Colt magazine Identification

I don't think Colt had 8 rounders in the early 70's and they weren't stainless back then. Aftermarket mags (Wilson?) were 8 shot before Colt factory mags were. My Blue Book says Colt Government Models got 8 shot mags "new in 1992". The "G" may be the manufacturer code or may mean "Government"...
  6. Trench gun show & tell

Added an accessory to my Model 12 today. A 25 round box of Winchester Western 00 Buck marked U.S. Property. It's WW2 era, just like the gun. Paper shells, not brass. Great for display.
  7. Trench gun show & tell

1942 Winchester model 12 U.S. trench gun with Winchester bayonet. This gun turned up in Duluth, GA in an estate sale. Condition is excellent, probably never issued, sold as surplus after WW2. I added a 1942 marked replica leather sling. Show us your trench and riot guns!
  8. My biggest milsurp acquisition yet!

The first and only time that I drove one of those was when I took the test for a military driver's license. I passed the test.
  9. WW II "bring back" paperwork

I have a P38 pistol that was an American GI's war trophy. With it is the paperwork authorizing him to bring it home. I also have lot's of his service history paperwork. Any idea how much the documents add to the value of the pistol? He wasn't famous, just a buck sergeant in the AAF.
  10. Need some help from the old Colt guys.

The left side of the barrel is marked. The markings are faint because of the rust but they're there. Should be the model name and the caliber. Look close, maybe with a magnifying glass.
  11. How do you preserve and store your relics?

Rig is great but if I want to use oil instead of grease, I like Birchwood Casey "Barricade" (formerly called Sheath) and Break Free "Collector". Both are specifically made for long term storage protection. Barricade is a thin oil and Collector is medium weight oil.
  12. C&R Bound Book

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that a loose leaf book does not meet the ATF's definition of a "bound book." Their concern is that a loose leaf book can be easily changed by replacing a page. They want a permanent, unchangeable record book.
  13. Need advice

If the box is the old 2 piece type, S&W collectors would pay something for it. I'm not sure about the ammo being collectable but I would think that they must be full boxes to be worth collecting. As far as values, I would search Gunbroker.com and look to see what similar items are selling for...
