FWIW, it makes it a lot easier if the weapon is right there in front of you, that way you can see all the pins and compare to the book. Unless your taking pictures in 4K or better, then pics work
As an owner of a 32 Longcolt vintage 1917, there is at least a dozen or more varieties of this particular S&W . So you really need a 4th or 3rd addition S&W bible to figure what you actually have. It’s a fun journey . It’s a cool piece of history which ever model it is

I have the same problem with my daughters, they know I wore a green beret and I've got a drawer full of medals and badges, of which they have never asked about. I havent figured out a way to bring it up.
