    I was finally able to pick up one that I’ve been wanting for awhile. An all correct 1943 Ithaca 1911a1. Looks like it saw some service time, as it has some holster wear but not bad at all. Serial puts it right around transition from Dulite to Parkerized finish.

    Goe to Lowes or Home Depot and get some Johnsons Paste Wax. I use this on all of my guns and knives, wood, etc. about $7 for a large can. Wax on, wax off. It's a lot cheaper than Ren wax and just as good.

    I recently purchased a Winchester here on the ODT at a very good price. Keep looking or mail order. But I'd be surprised if the mail order is open more than a few more months. Garands are starting to run thin at the CMP, so when they're gone, expect prices to rise alittle.

    I just stock up on the correct (surplus) ammo and there isn't a problem. Other companies make Garand ammo too. That's not a good enough reason to avoid owning one of the best battle rifles of WWII.
