And I have owned a number of original 1st gens that had worn or repaired hammer notches. You asked for opinions, I gave you experience. I know its not what you want to hear, but it is what it is.
You obviously have not handled many original 1st generation Colt SAA's. The safety notch was known to fail and allow the hammer to rest on or strike the primer. A drop or a bump could break it as well.
