If the SxS is that old you may have trouble finding the correct ammo to use. Modern 12ga might break it. For that reason id go .22
Also not sure how old you are but teaching your child how to shoot on grandads .22 is something both of you will never forget
Its possible the increase in sound is due to the slide coming back enough to let gas out before the bullet exits the can. Gas is escaping back out the ejection port. Do you have a lot of “gas” blowing back in your face? Let someone else shoot it while you stand off to the side. Sometimes its...
Yeah, the market got flooded. I had 233 radical and it worked well. But most of the 223/300 BO stuff has been beat to death so its kind of hard to mess one up. Now, with Wildcats its a different ball game. An extra $200 early on will save you ton of cash and time later on
As far as 45vrap vs 458socom..
If you want to go quite and heavy 458 is the way to go... Even high velocity and unsuppressed its a hammer.
If you want crazy power go for the vrap.
With that being said. The 45 vrap looks like a mean round but I haven't seen a place to purchase parts for it...
Not really the problem is once you open thw bolt face past .421 (6.8 spc) bolt life nosedives. Cmmg and Wilson have 308 bolts in ar15 carriers that are opened to grab the 458 and its much stronger.
Personally I don't like the idea just because you don't have many barrel options. But to each...
Also just to throw it out there
I really love the 458 socom. Its a caliber I always wanted.
If your talking about best high power ar platform caliber any 375 or larger ar15 round make no sense.
If your being practical, For the same price you could have good 308 AR which is way cheaper to...
Also to note the 458 wasn't designed for 16 in barrels it burns all of it powder in about 12 inches so compairing 458 socom with 45 vrap is kind of moot
The thing about the straight wall big bore calibers is they all have feeding issues.
Another thing to consider is the 458 socom breaks things like scopes and bolts working up something like the vrap leads me to believe there would be even more broken glass and bolts.
Anything over 6.8 spc rim...
Also going suppressed regardless of the speed of the projectile the "first round pop" becomes exponentially harsher as the diameter is increased above .335(9mm) IMHO
I loved mine took it apart to built a suppressor (form 1) for it. Its an expensive round but it is hands down the most reliable large bore round on the ar15 platform.
With that being said make sure you get a barrel through a company that has paid to licence the caliber. There have been problems...
Yeah I listened to an interview from the "we like shooting" podcast that had one of there marketing staff on and he said despite all the hold ups they will be shipping the 308 version in a few weeks and the .223s a couple months after. So we will see. I think if I get a good deal on a x95 ill...
Yeah I really like the x95 but I'd have to get it for a deal is 400 cheaper then the met and when you consider the cost of an upgraded trigger pack your in the same ball park so Idk still can't decide
Ok so I have all my parts chosen for my perfect AR with a griffin armament Spartan 3 (already in possession). Now the price would be right inline with a new IWI x95 (also a gun I've wanted for some time). I would pin the suppressor on a 11.5in Faxon barrel to bring it to 16 in. On the flip side...
