my son used Barnes TSX 223 ammo last season and got a freezer full of deer meat. He has switched to crossbow this season with good results so far, 7 point buck and a nice meaty doe.
Can't go wrong with the Barnes ammo, in any caliber.

I have 2 Rough Riders and recently bought a Diamondback Sidekick, which I haven't even shot yet.
I have my RR's setup as follows, 6.5 inch barrel, six shot, 22 mag and 4.75 inch barrel, nine shot, .22lr.

OP.....where are you hunting in IL?? West central near Quincy, Rushville Winchester, basically between the Mississippi and Illinois rivers is good area, but they are all over up there. Stay south of Interstate 80 though.
