If you go to any of the RK Shows, there's a young man that we be there with all sorts of ammo, I wish I could remember his name. Short, beard, typically wears a ball cap, I think that he is Bambi's son. He will be willing to trade with you.
Old ammo is indeed collectible. If you go to any Gun shows, toss it in a bag and see if you can trade it for something that you do shoot. You could probably trade it to someone easier than trying to sell it.
Montlake does not have a Sporting Clays course. They have shifted their focus to primarily .22 matches I believe. Benton would be the closest that I know of.
If you opt to stay with the 12, steer clear of the bargain priced Dove and Quail type loads that might be seen showing up soon for dove season, as previously stated they are loaded rather hot, over 1,300 fps.
To lessen recoil you can shoot lighter loads ( in 12 ga. 7/8 oz) lower speed loads (...
I have a collection of these firearms.
The one that took the longest to find was the .357 mag/20 ga.
I have .22mag/.410, .22mag/20 ga, .223/20 ga, .223/12 ga, 30-30/12 ga, .22lr/.410 and a Stevens .22lr/.410, as well as the .357mag/20 ga.
I am currently fighting with myself, trying to determine...
In actual registered Skeet, shooters use 12, 20, 28 and .410 bore shotguns.
For general shooting, 'going to the range for fun', I would recommend a 20 ga.
As stated earlier, CZ makes some fine starter O/U guns. If the budget will permit a Beretta Silver Pigeon or Browning CXS are both guns one...
I used to work for Ian Landis. He is the brother of company founder Bob Landis. When I last talked with Bob, his son was stepping up into the role that his father held. Great small business success story. Great folks, quality products, not cheap but we all know you get what you pay for.
Hope...
It appears to be a type III made during the Nazi occupation. Most common for that time period. I see no Imperial Eagle stamp nor the WaA140 stamp.
Please remember, I am no expert.
Feel free to contact me via PM for further discussion.
I've got a Stevens #23, .22-.410, Savage .22-.410, Savage .22 mag-.410, Savage .22mag-20ga Savage .357-20ga, Savage .223-20ga, Savage .223-12ga and .30/.30-12ga.
Great little guns! The .357-20ga took the most time to find.
I have a RG single action .22, 6 shot, 4" bbl. When we used to run the trapline, we needed something to dispatch raccoons, possum and fox. I was too young to buy it so dad did. Wouldn't sell it for any price. I think it was $27.95 with a holster(that I still have) and a box of bullets. Paid for...
Just going to add my 2 cents worth here. Over the past 45 years I have experimented with several slugs, both sabots and 'Foster' style.
Foster style or Brenneke type are for use in smooth bore barrels.
Sabot style slugs are for use in rifled barrels as you posted originally.
The sabot material...
Believe it or not. I can remember getting the Shotgun News in the early 80's. The wholesalers were running ads for the .44 Automag for $269.00, couldn't get rid of them...crap I'm old...
