    Roofer1, Good job! That looks great! So you just "free handed" the grips using a stationary belt sander? I have always liked the contrast between wood grips against the frame finish. You also changed the front sight too, right?

    I have a Mark II SS Competition model with the checkered brown laminate grips with the thumbrest. While that gun would be one of my last guns I would part with, I would love to try the 22/45 1911 style.

    That's what I think too. I like the way the gun fits into your hand, but I don't know if I could get by knowing I couldn't change the grip. But very nice gun!
