I got two of them from CraftHolsters.com. One for a Walther PPK/S, and one for a Walther PPS M2. I love them (although I rarely use them), but for hunting and car travel they'd be wonderful.
Aesthetics, practicality, and family history. Several .22s because they're very practical, and required for trapping. An inexpensive but reliable rifle, a semi that fits in a jacket pocket on a cold night, and a Ruger single-action revolver just because I like the look of it.
My EDC is a...
True, it happens everywhere. Trailer park, gated community, million-dollar yacht, it doesn't matter. I feel for the doctor -- been there more than once. But back to OP's question . . .
I've never been a "latest and greatest" fan. I finally found a gun that shoots 100%, and added TruGlo Pro...
Friendly contrarian here . . . I've fired a military .45 and loved it. It's not my favorite, and I like .380 or 9 mm for EDC, but if I had to make a choice in a bad situation that's what I'd grab.
Worrywarts Part II . . . I figured I had about 98% odds that the Walther PPS would be good out of the box, so I didn't worry too much about getting range time right away. Here's something to worry about, though:
I have several holsters, one being a Fobus Evolution paddle holster. It's...
OK, worrywarts, here's the update I promised. :) To recap, the OP asked about specific guns, and I'd had great success with the XDs 9 (2 of them). I liked the .45 also, but it was just a little heavier when loaded so I got rid of it. My EDC for about 6 months has been a Walther PPS M2 LE...
OP asked specifically about Springfield XDs and Walther PPS, so . . .
I've had several 3.3" XDs's, a couple of 9mm and one .45. The .45 was just slightly too heavy, but otherwise I loved them. Each one was laser-accurate (unlike my eyeballs). They were EDCs, usually IWB but often with a...
The idea of Second Amendment is, and has always been, a provocative and unique idea. Our government was based on a system of checks and balances -- legislative, executive, and judiciary -- with the citizenry holding ultimate and final authority. The Second Amendment's main purpose is to give...
$500? That was the price of my life membership 30 years ago ! It has increased not one penny! A life membership today is a bargain -- get yours while they last!
Oh, sh*t! I forgot about zombies!
Good God I'm dragging this out, but you're right and we do have zombies! Those maniacs who snort bath salts and then eat people alive -- zombies. Back on topic . . . a 12-gauge should settle the matter.
Bear44 -- excellent points. Thank you.
My only caveat is that I perceived the OP wasn't interested in a monstrous defensive position, but was questioning a friend's comment about the OP possibly needing more gun. For me, there are a lot of self defense and security measures (very simple and...
To the OP, apparently I don't know what I'm talking about but no one wants to say why (except for the 870 bit). Good luck to you . . . and me. :) It doesn't matter -- shotguns are fun. You should have one.
Not sure why . . . the guy asked for opinions and I have one . . . :)
By the way, my opinions are absolutely free, and they're worth every penny of it! ;)
"The Remington 870 has been in production for 6 decades and is probably the most commonly used pump action shotgun on the planet. lol"
Thanks -- it's been at least two of those decades since I've seen or used one. Wrong choice, I suppose.
Here are my suggestions.
I suggest that your pistol is fine, but if you want to add a shotgun and know nothing about them, be practical. Get a semi-automatic gun (the 870 mentioned I think is semi-automatic) because it'll take some of the work out of the equation. A pump can be hard to manage...
I've got a .32 S&W Long heirloom Police Positive Special -- given new to my father-in-law by the Gainesville, FL police chief in ~1940-45 for helping them with police cruiser radio repairs. Can't get rid of that one, therefore it's obviously a viable defense weapon. :-) Plus my wife has one...
Bill of Sale: "John sells to George on this date one Bersa .380 S/N xxxxxxxx for $250.00 CASH received in full, AS IS NO WARRANTY." /s/
When John sues George for failing to pay, George shows the judge his "received in full" Bill of Sale. Or when six months passes, and George sues John saying...
