Oh dang, at that age I was prolly 7 or 8 (maybe earlier). A .22 Stevens rifle that my Dad hunted squirrels with when I was a baby, and it contributed to our food source until he became successful. At that rime, he wasn't successful, and it was somewhat a food source.
He never preached hunting...
Good advice from everyone. Much appreciated.
savannahboy, I looked up the serial number on the Ruger site right after it was transferred to us. It was made in 1970, prolly not long before my FIL bought it..
I have not called Ruger yet, but right after receiving the gun I also saw during...
When my wife's father passed away a few years ago, she got her Dad's Ruger .41 Magnum 3-screw model (pre transfer bar) in his will.
The thing is, he fell off his horse the first trip out to Yellowstone with his buddies, and broke the original grips, and had them replaced shortly after. These...
I'll let the experts handle this. I am not an expert (by any stretch of the imagination).
One thing that strikes me as odd, I bought a brand new 4 inch 686 in 1989, and I just now compared a side view of it against the pic in this thread. Pic at the start of this thread looks more like a 4"...
Their C.S. has done well for me over the years.
They messed up once (which I discovered the next day at the range), but made it right by replacing it with a new one.
Love me some S&W revolvers.
Still have the first I bought (686), and none of my Glocks compare as far as smoothness of the action (but a completely different design)
Although, my wife inherited a Ruger 3 screw 41 mag, which certainly compares :)
I love good quality revolvers. The action is...
Sorry to hear that, but that is interesting. I bought a G19 Gen 5 when they first came out (my EDC) and never had any problems at all.
Never had a problem with both of my G21 and a G17 (Gen 4).
Only problem I ever had was a pair of G27 Gen 3 (only after Glock in Smyrna upgraded parts). I...
Glad to hear you say that. I've done similar. but not the higher tech you use.
I've got guns staged around the house, some with older TLR-2 Streamlights.
It's good to be within quick access of something either really potent, or with a tons of rounds, if need be.
I couldn't tell you in modern day.
The second gun I bought when I came of age was a 686, circa late 80's, with a 4" barrel. I Loved everything about that gun, except for concealed carry for my body type.
But 40 years later, it is certainly top 2 favorite over everything I own.
This is interesting. I just got an email from Glock about a factory flat faced trigger for some 9x19 models:
https://us.glock.com/en/LEARN/GLOCK-Pistols/performance-trigger
I've been wanting a more flat faced trigger for a long time. I experimented with Pyramid triggers several years ago...
To echo Geaux's comment, I have bought several handguns since I moved to Georgia in the early 90's.
Even before I got a Georgia Weapons Carry License, I walked out the door with the weapon after the background check cleared. I've never had to come back the next day.
Agree with this. I've had Gen 2 through 5. My thoughts:
1) Personally, finger grooves don't mean squat one way or the other to me as far as Glock ergonomics or accuracy. They seem to be a big deal to some folks so your mileage may vary.
2) The Gen 5 trigger is not a "game changer", but IMO...
It's been several years since I installed pyramid triggers in several Glocks. Two of them failed within a year - click but no boom.
I decided to just go back to stock Glock triggers and have not looked back.
This was 4 or 5 years ago, so maybe they have improved in recent years, but I'm done...
That's the first thought that came to my mind. Almost like their IP has been removed from DNS servers, and that would not surprise me in recent "woke" times.
I hope that is not the case.
