    The firing pin block should have prevented the striker from contacting the primer. It gets disingaged by the trigger as it's being pulled. This pistol may have more than one major issue.

    When you say bolt gap do you mean the distance between bolt face and breech face? It sounds like it could be a headspace issue but, I doubt it. Have you checked firing pin protrusion?
