Any quality light honing oil will work fine for that. Just be sure to wipe the handles clean and don't over oil if you have the original packaging. You don't want oil stains on the paper wrap or boxes. But don't worry about it too much. I have some old knives that I care a great deal about that...

I second (or third) the cold steel polymer knives. Not good for general utilitarian work but would suffice in a self defense situation. I have the push blade.
OK. This knife has only recently come into my radar but I have had a lot of inquiry's lately. Looking into it I discovered that it won the 2013 fixed blade knife of the year from Outdoor Life magazine. Anyone here put your hands on one yet and if so what do you think? Much appreciation.
One of the "old new stock" knives I have is a standard sharp finger, boxed with paperwork. It's the only one I have ever owned and it is safely tucked away in my safe. Probably my favorite Old Timer. What a classic.
Nice collection. Personally I would suggest separating the "vintage" older brand name knives from the QVC types. I would take the older ones and hold on to them. Old cases, bucks, ka-bars, old timers etc, are not bringing a lot on line but have value and are getting hard to find in good shape...
