  1. What are push notifications and why would I want it?

Me, neither. Selected once to not get push notifications, and I’ve never been asked again.
  2. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Them Yankees up there run a tight ship.
  3. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

In most airports in the US, once you get through security, the only additional security are the random uniformed LEOs assigned to that airport. I was an Air Marshal for over 20 years.
  4. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

We don’t delete accounts. if you don't wanna be here, you just log out and don’t log back in.
  5. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Some airports have outstanding TSA personnel and programs, like Boston Logan. They’ve had security from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv come over to Boston Logan to see how they do things. Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson, on the other hand, is among the worst. TSA inspectors will dress as...
  6. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

If you drive around urban areas, your tag is scanned multiple times a day by the government. If the area is set up for it, local LEOs will get a notification, along with the information and a picture, that this stolen tag was just seen in this area, for instance.
  7. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

If deleting your listings is what you want to do, then do it. You already have that ability. After your item has sold, you edit all the information from the listing. That ability has always been a part of ODT. But folks are too lazy to do it that way, and they want an “Easy” button.
  8. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Y’all want us to sell you Level II armor that is packaged as Level IV, and that would make you happy. After all, it protects a little bit, just not as much as folks think it does, and it will give folks a false sense of security. I’m not a proponent of giving folks false security. I want...
  9. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Yes, you do, and you missed my point.
  10. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

You’ve got that exactly BACKWARDS. I am as against government-mandated training for weapons-carry licenses as it’s possible to be. I am against weapons-carry licenses, PERIOD. Every American and legal resident of America has the given right to carry a firearm as they see fit. There should...
  11. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

It’s absolutely a choice to not list information here, while still selling items.
  12. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Every server that the information passes through grabs a snapshot of it. No one “keeps” it. It’s ALWAYS kept, somewhere. Multiple somewheres. Deleting it on ODT is merely a feel good measure that makes the ignorant (and I mean that in the dictionary definition, not as a slur) feel good, when...
  13. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

So the powers that be spend money on a change / upgrade that really does nothing?
  14. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Multiple times a day. EVERY damn day.
  15. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Folks wrongly post personal information here on ODT multiple times a day. The sorts of folks that post that type of information won’t know what to do with additional geegaws. We have at least once member that fell for the same scam twice in 30 days, possibly by the same scammer, because he was...
  16. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

ODT already has the ability to remove a listing from the “active listing”. If you hit the “Mark As Gone” button at the top left of your listing, it removes it from the active listing. The ad no longer shows up in searches, and it is removed from the forum it was listed in so it is no longer in...
  17. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

No, I don’t assume that at all. I don’t need to ask my acquaintances about how risky “leaving a wide open trail” is, because I already know. Up until 19 months ago, I held a TS clearance for over 20 years. We were constantly trained, retrained, and updated on all forms of informational...
  18. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

I never said I was against the ability to easily delete a listing. I only stated why it’s a waste of time. If the folks above me in the food chain decide to make it an ODT feature, I’ve got no problem with it. If I’m asked to vote on whether or not I think members should have that ability...
  19. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Deleting an ad doesn’t delete it in the way that many folks think. Folks that know what they are doing can still retrieve the information. Folks want to sell items online, and then delete the ad so that no one can tell that they sold it. It doesn’t necessarily work that way.
  20. I’d like a way to easily remove an ad after a sale

Not a dang thing, but I know quite a few folks that do know a lot, and do that sort of thing for a living. When I don’t know enough about a subject, I find someone that is an expert, and I talk to them about it. This includes folks that I know in my LE capacity whose job it is to find...
