Wholeheartedly agree.
Seeing all the microprocessor's built into the newer trucks means more failure points to deal with. Here's a Video that has a '17 F150 that had some water get into one rear taillight and corroded a wire that cost $5,600 to fix it. Used to be something that a little...
Had an '05 F150 that was trouble free for me for 7 year's, regular cab with the 4.6l & 4x4.
Only thing I did was basic maintenance and install a leveling kit along with factory Expedition wheels to dress it up.
Ended up selling to gather funds to buy my house. Was a good truck to me.
I doubt much if anything can be used from that, maybe sheet metal if it isn't warped.
I'd assume everything else got so hot that it's out of spec, probably easier to just scrap it.
I had a similar issue back in December of '21 when my '95 E150 trans lost 3rd gear. Prices were stupid for everything so having it rebuilt was the better option. The AAMCO in Woodstock had a lot of great reviews online so I went with them, total price came out to $2,675.
It came with an 18...
It's amazing how often people fail to check out the underside of the vehicle they are buying. It's common for people to haul rotted vehicles down from the north to sell to folks that never had rust issues like the salty roads up north create.
I found one example when I went to check out a clean...
I've been planning to add sound insulation to the spare tire area to reduce the road noise on my wife's Rav4, it's the easiest area to access and where I believe most of the noise comes from on our 2018 model.
If taking out the seats isn't an issue that would be the next place I'd use it, after...
That's pretty much the main thing I look for when buying anything, reliability.
Too much/fast innovation sucks when it becomes problems to diagnose faulty issues after production started. Then hoping a recall is issued to fix whatever the manufacturer screwed up on.
Big benefit to the RAV4 is the 8 speed transmission, the Cross has a CVT but with a mechanical 1st gear to fix the lag time common with all other CVT's.
I can't comment on the current RAV4 since I bought the '18 model, but seeing it on the road the added size makes it look like a nicer vehicle...
I'm sure there are good examples out there, but for me I just don't trust them enough. With all the crap to go wrong and fix on car's I tend to keep it limited on items that are unnecessary. If it was on a performance vehicle I'd make an exception, but if for just commuting then it's just...
Not sure about Kia, but Hyundai has a shorter length of warranty on the turbo system. Best to ask since they don't advertise that info when buying.
Given the cost of replacement on those things I would never trust it on a economical daily driver.
I purchased a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited back in 2015, the gas mileage was great & had all the options.
Figured the warranty and the good things I heard about them it'd be the smart choice for a family car. Ended up trading it in on the RAV4 due to it having issues like turning off for no...
Toyota is a solid company, my wife loves her RAV4.
Check out this guy's channel, he is a Toyota master technician discusses what's good & bad on these vehicles.
Kinda hard to fit fat tires in the rear without bulging it out a bit. If anything they could have added the vent looking scoops like they had on the SN95 models. But other than that it's tough to change them up much.
After hearing about the new age interior and how customizable it is, all I could think of is how much does it add to the cost?
Then I was thinking they should come out with an analog version, like a bare bones set up. Kinda like what they did with the GTS model in 1995.
Also, they should ditch...
