So much torque at idle that the parking brakes will not hold hahahaha. I know this because my neighbor's wife has a jetta wagon. Yes...there's a story.
What @rockyfatcat said ^^^. Also, #s 5 and 7 are often mixed up. It will cause a light miss and some loss of power but typically not as bad as you are describing.
Sounds kinda like the accelerator pump may be bad or out of adjustment. Does pop back through the carb when you try to rev it? Also, maybe the EGR valve is stuck open.
That 10 bolt will likely hold up but that right rear tire will go up in smoke with the torque of the 383 and the 3.06 first gear in that 700r4. Might want to use a non-lockup converter if you keep the 3.08 rear ratio.
Mahindra has been making little diesel trucks for years in other countries. I thought at one time they were going to introduce one to the US. These are kind of neat but at 62hp and 144ft/pd of torque, seem a little weak to me.
You'll have to pay to trim and CC the pistons and rebalance the engine anyway. Might as well buy new pistons with the proper CC dome for the compression you desire.
Hp is a calculation of torque. Dynos don't measure Hp, they measure torque. hp=torque x rpm/5252. 5252 is the rpm at which the torque curve and the hp curve cross. All that BS said...torque's what gets you moving.
I don't understand why we don't have more diesel options here in the US...Was in Nicaragua earlier this year. There were Toyota Land Cruisers, Highlanders and Sequoias with diesels as well as Nissan Frontiers among others that you can't get here in the states.
