It uses regen braking and coasting recharges the battery. Battery is almost always at 100% the way i'm driving. It will show you.
I presume if one did run it low, gas motor would fire up to recharge. yes.
Realistically you cannot drive it on total electric for very long around here. First...
I'd agree. I'm no where near your size at 6' and 200 lbs. I fit in the front seats with seat no where near all the way back. No issues on room whatsoever. Also in the back seat it is plenty of room for a six foot guy on a normal drive. Wouldn't want to ride in the back to Florida but for...
only a small portion of the population can drive w manual now......
and a smaller portion actually would want one. Traffic, texting, etc.
Think how many 16-30 year olds even know what a manual trans is.
When hybrids coast, they are typically with engine off so it saves even more fuel than...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermiling
basically driving to save fuel. Not flooring it, racing people, and doing stupid stuff.
On this maverick, you accelerate till the speed limit and then barely touch the throttle so it maintains speed with the electric motor. Gas engine is off.
Pic of truck
Pic of mpg
Running Duluth to sugar hill and sugar hill to Suwanee. No interstate driving.
50+ mpg by taking it easy and hyper mile driving
Yes and no.
Ford originally thought 40% of the Mavericks would be hybrids and 60% the ecoboost. I don't have the exacts on what the reality is, but i would guess, 80% hybrid and 20% ecoboost. Even the dealer said everyone wants the hybrid, not the ecoboost.
UPDATE: Took delivery of my new 2022 Ford Maverick XLT hybrid yesterday morning.
I now have about 53 miles on it. Overall mpg from computer is mid 30's. I'm sure this will go up quite a bit as times goes on. Ratings are 42 city, 33 highway....37 combined. Not bad for any type of vehicle of...
manual transmissions are dead. Even sports cars are coming solely w/autos. Light trucks....do they even have autos anymore?
too much traffic and gen Z's. They can't drive manuals
TOP CHOICES:
Toyota Tundra / Tacoma - reliability and resale
F150 - the 5.0 had some timing chain issues. Not sure if they are fixed now. New ecoboosts have proved fairly reliable.
Chevy/GMC 1500 - the 5.3 and 6.2 has some issues w/collapsed lifters.
I would avoid the Ram. Cam / lifter...
v8's are a dying breed fellas.
Next they are really going to push electric stuff.
I can tell you, the f150 twin turbo 3.5 ecoboost w/10 speed definitely has more LOW END grunt than an idential 5.0 coyote v8. I drove two back to back. Now the v8 sound kills the v6 whinning dog sound.
As far...
The maverick is a slam dunk success for Ford.
Ordered were closed for awhile and not being reopened until August 16.
I should get mine in May/June. Keep y'all posted if it comes in. Great bang for the buck for a local grocery / estimate vehicle. For the price and MPG you can't beat it.
I...
Not sure if "now" is a good time to buy.
I've looked beginning of summer and inventory was LOW and prices were HIGH.
At the same time, both of my used trucks went UP in value quite a bit ---
95% of the F150's are subdivision trucks w/bling wheels and fancy crap.
Been tryin to find a "work truck" with crew, 6.5 foot bed, 4wd and max tow package. They rarely exist in GA, most are out of state. Gave up on it and just drive my old crap.
IT's going to be the new norm....
and there is no arguing their POWER they are capable of.
I'd like to see their reliability and I seriously may consider one.
thanks to sleepy joey, and $3/gallon --- only going to go UP fellas.
I hate all the domestic brand dealers.
Would love a Tundra, but it is essentially the same truck / drivetrain since 2007. Not spending $50k on a 14 year old truck.
Chevy has the "reliability" and Ford has the POWER. Your mileage may vary.
Ford dealers are crooks. Mall of GA, Gwinnett Place...

Original paint and interior.
Bought from a feller on this forum. Got her running with a battery and bypassing the rusted fuel tank. Last tag shows 03/04 I believe.
going to replace the tank and change out the wheels/tires to something modern. Since it has...
YUP....I have known Keith (owner of dirtydeeds) since we were little kids...40+ years.
It was insane the amount of power the tundra made with an exhaust system.
