Came with a kiss from my wife. Also I can buy more gun stuff with the money I saved and tell her, "see even though I just spent $600 on a new gun, I still saved us $1k!" And either way it didn't to me, the higher they quoted, the better I felt about my decision to do the work myself.
sometimes its nice letting a liar know that you know. and I've been there before in a pinch when I had absolutely no time. Also, they over-torqued my bleeder nipples too I found out last night when bleeding them. Almost stripped one. I'll just never trust those places to do a quality job.
Just to make myself feel better I called the dealer for a quote on all the same work... Dealer quote was $1,963 for parts and $630 for labor. I spent $978 for everything which was:
2 Calipers
4 Premium rotors
pads
parking brake shoes
brake fluid
master cylinder
oil and filter
tire rotation
$130...
Well thanks for talking me off the ledge, fellas. I swapped out the MC last night. Bench bled it, and then a full system bleed, and WOW! what a difference! I was actually able to get my ABS to kick in on a paved road slamming them on. I was not able to do that the day or two prior.
I've always been my own grease monkey. They were probably offended when I told them all I wanted was the brakes/ABS module bled on a scanner to ensure air was out. They were trying to upsell me on other stuff before I had even brought the truck in. When I picked it up they said, "yeah we bled...
Good idea on the dirt road. Back in January with the snow I definitely activated my ABS. I read a couple things about the push rod from the booster to the MC needing slight adjustment that makes a big difference. Might try that as well
I have a 2005 f150 FX4. 165k miles.
I just replaced all 4 rotors, 2 calipers, and all pads. I did a full bleed in the proper order to get all the air out after cracking the lines for the calipers (1 has siezed piston, the other a siezed bleeder nipple that I stripped). My brakes were still...
Throwback to that time I rode 5 hours in the February cold and rain all alone to ride the dragon and get a shirt... Shoulda checked the dang website before leaving.
I mean I'm probably just going to keep the SV. If I sold it I probably wouldn't get much more than $3500 so why bother? I'd be hard pressed to get that much out of something else in that price range. Just need to sell a bunch of knives this year and maybe a DRZ can happen down the road.
Those are bad ass. More of a street fighter though. And for the price I'd probably rather buy a FZ09. I know it's really apples and oranges but I would never be able to push super duke to anything close to its limits. Very bad ass none the less
